CMS Broadband Telephone Service (VOIP)

How CMS Broadband Telephone Service (VOIP) Works

Broadband Internet Telephone Service or VoIP, which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, is phone service that is delivered over a broadband Internet connection using your existing home phone. You can make and receive calls using a pre-existing broadband internet connection, or a high speed connection that we set you up with.

CMS Broadband Telephone Service converts the sound from your call into data, sends it over the internet, and converts it back into sound at the other end. You can use our phone service to talk to people using any type of phone service – traditional land line, cell phone service, or other VOIP subscribers. The call quality sounds exactly the same as other types of phone services. As a matter of fact, no one will even know you are using VOIP unless you tell them!

CMS Broadband Telephone Service will not affect your computer usage. We take measures to allocate the right amount of bandwidth to your computer and your phone service at any given time. You can browse the web, check and send email, and talk on the phone at the same time with no problem.

What do you need to get CMS Broadband Telephone Service (VOIP)?

•A broadband internet connection.

•A CMS phone adapter. CMS offers a standard VOIP adapter with all new phone service installs, which can be used for 1 or 2 lines. You can use an existing adapter, if it compatible with CMS phone service.

•A touch tone phone
